Trusting God's Better Story

Pastor Jessica's message confronts us with a truth that can transform our deepest disappointments: when our plans don't turn out the way we expected, God's plan is always better. Through the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1, we encounter a woman who prayed with such desperation that she appeared intoxicated, weeping in the temple year after year over her barrenness. In a culture that equated childlessness with losing God's favor, Hannah faced not only physical inability but social shame and constant provocation from her rival. Yet Hannah's prayer wasn't begging for her own will to be done, but rather aligning her will perfectly with God's. She surrendered completely, promising that if God gave her a son, she would give him back for temple service. God answered miraculously, and that son Samuel became the prophet who would anoint the king whose lineage produced Jesus Christ. Hannah's closed womb became a doorway to a story far greater than she could have imagined. This teaches us that God's different is not less. When we stop praying 'Why, God?' and start praying 'Okay, God, what is your plan?', we position ourselves to see how our pain can become praise and our waiting can produce something eternally significant.
