The Nehemiah Project

What does it look like when God calls someone to rebuild what has been broken? The book of Nehemiah gives us one of the most gripping answers in all of Scripture. Nehemiah, a cupbearer to a powerful king, hears news of Jerusalem's crumbled walls and burned gates, and rather than turning away, he weeps, fasts, and prays. Then he acts. In Nehemiah 1:1-11, we see a man who confesses not only his own sins but the sins of his people, who pleads with God for favor, and who trusts that the same God who allowed the destruction can also ordain the restoration. The wall that seemed impossible to rebuild was finished in just 52 days. That number is not a footnote. It is a declaration that when God is behind something, human timelines and human doubts are not the final word.
